President, Designer & Founder
In the early fall of 1999, 22 year old shoe designer Paolo Iantorno opened his flagship store in the heart of San Francisco's eclectic artsy Fillmore Jazz District. "The marriage between the shoe and the foot is essential in portraying personality, elegance, class and style," defines Paolo Iantorno about his abstract yet classic designs in a 2001 interview. Most of his shoes being designed in a versatile style allowing them to be dressed up or down for any occasion. For men, that means jeans or slacks, women, leggings, jeans, or a nice evening dress.
Over the past 14 years, Paolo has continued to design all his own bespoke men's and women's footwear, handbags and accessories which are all hand crafted and finished by Italian Artisans in 20 boutique factories ranging from Tuscany to Marche to Naples, Italy. He has also done this without cutting corners, going beyond the confines of durable construction to present a proudly branded “Made in Italy” piece of art wear. Paolo’s exotic leathers are all hand-picked, and vegetable dyed, mostly from leathers tanned in Italy except for exotic C.I.T.E.S. approved leathers found only within their country of origin.
All exotic skins used have been C.I.T.E.S. (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) documented and certified internationally. Each style is produced in quantities of twenty-five pieces or less. Upon completion of each collection, the shoe lasts are destroyed just as fine art plate proofs to keep each and every piece Paolo creates one of a kind.
Paolo Iantorno has been described "as one of the most prominent shoe designers of the 21st century," and has been featured worldwide in industry leading media such as CNN, The New York Times, Mademoiselle, Vogue, The London Financial Times, The Los Angeles Times, Footwear News and The San Francisco Chronicle amongst others. He also has his hands in other aspects all over the fashion industry collaborating with international brands, and also pioneering his own clothing label in the trendy Hayes Valley district of San Francisco, where Duke et Duchess’ rock n roll inspired jean store carries a number of items designed by him and other local designers as well as their recent addition of the up-and-coming Superdry line. All the items in here, including but not limited to the jeans and t-shirts vary in cuts and style from modern and slim, to comfy and semi-boot cut.
To say that Paolo’s success has slowed him down any, would be said by someone that doesn’t know him at all. Even with these extremely successful stores and personal clothing lines, he is still just in his early thirties, and people always can’t wait to see what he’ll develop next. Whether it’s a new sneaker ar seasonal line, or just what surprises he has coming for Fall 2013, he has media and fans excited and hooked, locals and repeat travelers alike. They just can’t stay away from his quality made detail oriented designs all Made in Italy.
